A league table summarises tournament results, while a knockout fixture identifies a particular match. Check the tournament stage before interpreting either.
Read the table headings
Points, matches played and other tie-breaking fields describe accumulated results. The exact competition rules determine ranking. Do not infer a team's final position from a single recent score without checking the full current table.
Read the fixture separately
A knockout match has its own participants, date, venue and status. A past league meeting between the same teams is not the result of that fixture. Match identity matters even when team names repeat.
Avoid assumed qualification
Use the competition's confirmed standings and announcements for qualification or progression. A promotional poster or prediction can be outdated. Do not present a hypothetical result as a secured place in the next stage.
